Land Rover Lightweight

Winterised

Some Lightweights were manufactured as a 'Winterised'  version. My Lightweight  was one of these. Winterised Lightweights were fitted with an 'Arctic Heater'  which was fed with water from the engine and the heat distributed to the windscreen and side windows via a ducting system. Some of the interior metalwork had insulation matting bonded to it. Externally there were cleats and fixings for blinds to cover the windscreen and door windows and a radiator 'muff'.
My Lightweight has had the Arctic heater removed but there are still signs of it having been fitted.

Mudflaps were only fitted to 'Winterised' Lightweights
There never has been a Rover part No.
They come with a label stating :-
NATO Stock No.

The outer holes are where the bumperette bolts go (sandwich them between chassis tow-member & bumperettes). The two inner holes are for if you have the rear lift eyes fitted.

Photos of the Flaps on my Lightweight
The rear crossmember has been replaced but the Mudflaps look original but do not have the double row of holes as per the above. Measurements 9" x 17.5"
One of the interesting things is that the flaps/bumperettes lower fixings are fastened with studs threaded at both ends.
The aluminium plate looks like a later addition and looks to be checkerplate.
